On Saturdays from 08:30am-12:00pm, we offer a Junior Rifle program, which involves instruction in 22 caliber small bore rifle. The contact person is Dave Heckler, at 302-733-0838 (B) or 302-563-5101 (H).

Program
- Teaches the basics and fine skills of Olympic Rifle competition
- Participants will continue the long standing tradition of shooting sports in America
- Follows basic NRA guidelines
- The course of fire is two 10 shot targets per round
- 4 positions: sitting, kneeling, standing, and prone
- The sitting position is not used in Olympic competition

Who can join
- Juniors from ages 6-18
- Children with disabilities such as ADHD can strongly benefit
- Parental approval is recommended
- The parent may or may not stay, that is up to the Range Officer
- Any student misconduct is dismissed promptly
Costs
- The first session is free
- Annual fee to join is $16 a year (pro-rated from Jan-Dec)
- A range ticket is $16 for 16 rounds
- Students typically complete 3 rounds per week

Equipment
- We ask that you do not buy anything
- All shooting equipment is provided
- All safety equipment is provided
- The rifles used are fitted to the shooter
- We have 40X, 540's and a few high quality match rifles
- All sights are peep sights: two rings
- Equipment is also available for disabled students in wheelchairs
Awards
- Awards are provided by the DSPC
- Participants can qualify for NRA challenges
- Each target may be recorded if qualified
- Some Juniors have achieved the highest honor of Distinguished Expert, which requires a lot of discipline, commitment and practice
Safety
- The students are required to pass a safety training course
- The participants are instructed in a safe and efficient manner
- Participants will develop proper safety skills with firearms
- All Instructors are NRA certified in Basic Rifle, Firearm Safety, and NRA match rifle shooting
